FAQ

  • What is the difference between ceramic coating and paint protection film (PPF)?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds with your vehicle’s paint, offering long-term protection against UV rays, chemicals, and minor scratches while enhancing gloss and ease of cleaning. PPF, on the other hand, is a clear, durable film that is applied to painted surfaces to protect against rock chips, scratches, and road debris. Many customers choose to combine both for maximum protection.

  • How long do ceramic coatings and PPF last?

Our ceramic coatings can last anywhere from 2 to 10 years, depending on the product and maintenance. STEK PPF offers a 10-Yeart warranty on their products. We offer various package options to suit different durability needs.

  • Is ceramic coating or PPF better for my vehicle?

It depends on your priorities. If you're looking for high gloss, ease of maintenance, and chemical resistance, ceramic coating is ideal. If you're concerned about rock chips, scratches, or frequent highway driving, PPF offers superior physical protection. Many clients apply PPF to high-impact areas and ceramic coating over the entire vehicle for comprehensive protection.

  • How long does the application process take?

Ceramic coating typically takes 1 to 2 days, depending on the condition of the paint and the level of correction needed. PPF installation can take 2 to 3 days, depending on the coverage area. For full car protection with both services, plan for 5-7 days to ensure proper curing and quality.

  • Can I wash my car after ceramic coating or PPF installation?

We recommend waiting at least 7 days before washing your vehicle to allow the coating or film to fully cure. After that, hand washing with pH-neutral soap and microfiber towels is best to maintain the protection and finish.

  • Does ceramic coating or PPF eliminate the need for maintenance?

No. While both protect your paint and make cleaning easier, regular maintenance is still important. Ceramic coatings reduce the effort required to keep your car clean, and PPF is self-healing with heat, but both should be inspected and maintained periodically to ensure long-term performance.
